2015 is 50 years since our founder, Dennis Eldridge, set up a talking newspaper in Canterbury. Our Charity is very proud of our heritage and we believe we are the oldest talking newspaper in England.
The Charity has seen many changes over the 50 years and not only in technology. From the initial half a dozen listeners to between 140 and 150 we now boast, to all the many volunteers who have helped produce the news over the years. We salute them all for supporting an organisation which makes such a difference to those with a sight impairment in the Canterbury and district area.
In order to celebrate the achievement the Canterbury and District Recorder held an Afternoon Tea for our listeners and volunteers in August 2015.
The Charity looks forward to many more years supporting the visually impaired in Canterbury and the surrounding area.
